Seeing Polish banking through different eyes
Background:Poland’s banking market is one of the most dynamic in Europe. Innovation abounds thanks to Alior, BKO, mBank and more creating new retail business models. Meanwhile, unencumbered by legacy infrastructures and systems, the markets move at a pace that outstrips most others, with KIR’s real-time payments processing being a case in point. But is Poland really any different? What are the key perceptions of the Polish banking market being shared with others around Europe, and do these perceptions match those of the incumbent players?
To find out, John Rendall will share his experiences of running HSBC Poland over the past two years.
John has been Chief Executive Officer for HSBC Poland since August 22, 2012. Mr. Rendall serves as an Executive Officer of HSBC Holdings plc, a nd previously served as the Chief Executive for Scotland Operations from June 2009 to July 2012.
He has been with HSBC for 22 years and, prior to his move to Scotland, spent two years as Chief Operating Officer for HSBC in Mexico and held the post of Chief Operating Officer for Commercial Banking in the UK from 2004 to 2007.
